Lumbar Puncture in Medical Imaging (Lower Mainland) [English] Permalink Public
A lumbar puncture is a procedure for taking a sample of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from around the spinal cord in the lower back. You might also hear it called a ‘spinal tap’. This procedure is usually done to identify diseases of the central nervous system, including the brain and spine. This procedure is also used to treat cancer with chemotherapy. A radiologist does the procedure (a doctor who specializes in image guided procedures). (English) Colour
