Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator [French] Permalink Public
An implantable cardioverter defibrillator (or ICD, sounds like ‘eye-see-dee’) is a small electronic device that constantly checks your heart rate and rhythm. It looks for any sudden changes that can cause sudden death. When needed, it can either send an electrical impulse to your heart to trigger a heartbeat or send an electrical shock to trigger the heart rhythm back to normal. (French)
