This pamphlet provides a brief description of the medical imaging procedure uterine fibroid embolization including information on who will be performing procedure?, prior to procedure instructions, what happens during procedure?, will it hurt?, how long it will take?, risks or complications, what happens afterwards?, follow-up instructions and information on who to contact if experiencing problems. This is a procedure that closes off the blood supply to fibroids that are inside the uterus (called ‘embolization’). When we slow down or block the blood supply, the fibroid stops growing.
