This pamphlet provides a brief description of the medical imaging procedure ultrasound guided thyroid biopsy including information on who will be performing procedure?, prior to procedure instructions, what happens during procedure?, will it hurt?, how long it will take?, risks or complications, what happens afterwards?, follow-up instructions and information on who to contact if experiencing problems. A biopsy is a way of taking a small piece of tissue, in this case, from your thyroid. We use ultrasound images to locate the spot to biopsy.
