This handout is provided to parents of children aged 0-5 to provide them with information about which speech sounds development at which ages. It provides parents of what is typical and when to be concerned. As children learn to talk, they all make similar speech errors as they create easy ways to say words. We call these patterns of speech. This factsheet describes common speech errors children make as their develop speech sounds. PICC (Child) [English] Permalink Public

A PICC is used in some children who need IV therapy for a long period of time. IV therapy means medicine that is put into the vein. Frequent needle insertions can be painful and can damage children's veins, so a PICC may be the best way for some children to receive medicines and IV fluids or to have blood samples taken. An interventional radiologist or a nurse will insert your child's PICC in the Image Guided Therapy (IGT) department. An interventional radiologist is a doctor who use special viewing equipment such as X-rays, ultrasound, or computed tomography (CT) scans to perform procedures that may have required traditional surgery in the past.
