ElectroConvulsive Therapy (ECT) [Chinese - Traditional] Permalink Public

This treatment uses a small amount of electricity to produce a carefully controlled seizure in the brain. While we don’t know exactly how it works, the seizures change the chemicals in the brain, helping it to return to normal function. ECT is most often used to treat severe depression. It might be used when other treatments have not worked or when a mental illness needs to be treated right away. (Chinese - Traditional) Colour

Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) [Chinese - Traditional] Permalink Public

Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a small electronic device used to treat heart failure. It delivers tiny amounts of electrical impulses to the heart causing both ventricles to pump together in a coordinated way. There are 2 types of these devices: a CRT pacemaker (CRT-P) and a CRT defibrillator (CRT-D). Both can send an electrical impulse to your heart, triggering a heartbeat when needed. A CRT-D can also deliver a life-saving shock to return the heart rhythm back to normal. (Chinese - Traditional)
